Ride Quality The Pashley is good to ride. As you might expect, with all the accessories, you have a considerable weight to carry around (20Kg). It is definitely not fast. The steel frame gives a comfortable ride and the upright riding position encourages a relaxed approach to riding around traffic.

Aside from the riding position, the most obvious feature – common to many roadsters – is weight. They are both really heavy. The Pashley is 22.4kg, which is more than many e-bikes! You can’t help but notice this if you’re used to lighter bikes.

Do Pashley bikes have gears?

Both bikes have modern hub gears and roller brakes. Pashley switched over from rod brakes in the late 1990s, as roller brakes are much more effective at stopping the bike in the rain. With a rear rack and, in the case of the Pashley, a sturdy front basket, both bikes are suitable for commuting or shopping.

What is the Pashley Guv’nor?

The Pashley Guv’nor is modeled on the 1930s Path Racer, and its faithfulness to this concept is remarkable. The frame is relaxed, with the same frame geometry and 28″ wheel size as the Pashley Roadster. But while the Roadster is made of high-tensile steel (heavy, utilitarian), the Guv’nor is made of Reynold ‘s 531 tubing (super light, high-end).

What’s new for Pashley in 2013?

The 2013 Eurobike stand heralded the launch of three new models for Pashley. For me the most outstanding was a new machine they have called the ‘Speed 5’. The Speed 5 on display at Eurobike 2013.

What’s the difference between a speed 5 and a Guv’nor?

Another obvious difference with the Guv’nor series is that the ‘Speed 5’ has black Schwalbe 28 x 1 1/2 inch tyres instead of the more traditional white tyres that come standard on the Guv’nor. The black coloured 28 inch Westwood rims with gold piping remain the same.

What is the difference between the Guv’nor and the Roadster?

Although the Co-Habitant’s Roadster has the same amount of exposed seat tube, this is disguised by the huge rails and springs of the Brooks B-33 saddle that the Roadster is fitted with. The flat and unsprung B17 on the Guv’nor, on the other hand, leaves every millimeter exposed.
