RCs are great for long focal length deep sky imaging and research, but they are less ideal for visual use or planetary imaging. The large central obstruction reduces contrast a significant amount, which makes the RC inferior to say, Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes for planetary imaging or visual observing.
What is a GSO telescope?
The GSO is a steel-tubed telescope with a large, sturdy base and an appealing price tag. This meant the GSO was well collimated after its journey to us. Adjusting the secondary mirror requires a screwdriver, and although we didn’t like having to hold tools above the primary mirror, collimation was easy to achieve.
How do you stack astrophotography?
Star stacking requires capturing multiple shots at the same shutter speed so that they can be aligned and averaged later. The more shots you have, the less noisy the star stacked result will be, but only up to a point before sensor pattern noise starts being visible, or you completely exhaust the signal to noise ratio.
How is a radio telescope different from a refracting telescope?
Refracting telescopes use lenses to bend light as it passes throught them. These are limited by the size of the lenses, and therefore tend to be much smaller than reflectors. Radio telescopes are used to study much longer wavelengths than visible light.
What is the reflector telescope used for?
A reflector telescope is a type of telescope in which the objective lens used to collect light is a mirror. There are a number of variations on the basic reflector telescope design, ranging from hand-held telescopes designed to be used by amateur enthusiasts to huge observing telescopes located in laboratories all over the world.
How are telescopes used in astronomy?
Telescopes are the main tools used by astronomers to explore the Universe. The way they work depends on what an astronomer wants to look for across deep space. For most people a telescope is an optical telescope, which lets an astronomer see objects in space that radiate or reflect visible light.
What is an astronomical telescope?
Answer Wiki. An astronomical telescope is an optical instrument which is used to see the magnified image of distant heavenly bodies like stars, planets, satellites and galaxies etc.
