How do you administer BYETTA injection?

Byetta is usually injected twice a day, before the morning and evening meals. Do not use after eating a meal. You must use Byetta within 60 minutes (1 hour) before eating. Your Byetta doses should be given at least 6 hours apart.

What is BYETTA pen used for?

Generic Name: exenatide Exenatide is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar. It is used by people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems.

Does BYETTA need to be refrigerated?

Patients can now keep a BYETTA Pen at a temperature anywhere from 36 degrees F (2 degrees C) to 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) after first use. Until first use, BYETTA Pens must continue to be stored in a refrigerator between 36 degrees F (2 degrees C) and 46 degrees F (8 degrees C).

Can you take Byetta and metformin together?

Victoza is also FDA-approved to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in people with type 2 diabetes who have heart disease. Byetta contains exenatide, and Victoza contains liraglutide. These medications are from the same drug class, so they work in the same way in the body.
