Is prosciutto OK during pregnancy?

Try not to worry if you’ve had cold cured meats already in pregnancy. Listeriosis and toxoplasmosis are very rare and the risk to your baby is low. Eating cooked cured meats is fine, so you can eat them if they’re added to pizza or in a pasta dish.

Is Parmigiano safe during pregnancy?

All hard cheeses are safe in pregnancy You can eat hard cheeses, such as cheddar, parmesan and stilton, even if they’re made with unpasteurised milk. Hard cheeses don’t contain as much water as soft cheeses, so bacteria are less likely to grow in them.

Is buffalo mozzarella safe during pregnancy?

As long as it’s made from pasteurized milk, mozzarella (even the softer fresh variety) is almost universally safe for you to eat while pregnant.

Pizzas are safe to eat in pregnancy, as long they are cooked thoroughly and are piping hot. Mozzarella is perfectly safe but be cautious about pizzas topped with soft, mould-ripened cheeses such as brie and camembert, and soft blue-veined cheeses, such as Danish blue.
