In the Roman Catholic Church, each participant is also anointed with oil. In Protestant denominations outside the Church of England, confirmation is seen as a rite of passage or initiation to full Christian discipleship. It is a symbolic act allowing the baptised person to make a mature statement of faith.
What is a confirmation sponsor?
The primary role of a sponsor is to help in preparing the confirmation and vouch for the readiness and beliefs of the candidates. A sponsor will bring the candidate to the priest to be anointed. Agreeing to be a confirmation sponsor is a serious commitment to the Almighty God in taking on this role.
How many times can a Catholic get married?
He or she cannot validly marry again in the Catholic Church. Remarriage isn’t out of the question for Catholics: Like the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, the Sacrament of Matrimony can take place only once, unless one spouse dies.

Your sponsor must be practicing his/her faith, that is, a faithful Catholic who attends Sunday Mass on a regular basis. Your sponsor must be someone besides your parents. The church prefers that the godparents at baptism serve again as the sponsor at confirmation.
Can Catholic widows remarry?
He or she cannot validly marry again in the Catholic Church. Remarriage isn’t out of the question for Catholics: Due to the lifelong commitment that’s required for the Sacrament of Matrimony, Catholics can marry only someone who’s widowed or who wasn’t married before.
