Can adults drink Enfalyte?
Toddlers, children, and adults should generally take 100 mL to 150 mL per kilogram of body weight (45 mL to 70 mL per pound) each day. Follow the directions provided with the product you are using. If you are also vomiting, start with small amounts of solution and increase this amount when vomiting subsides.
Is electrolyte water good for babies?
If your baby is having trouble keeping liquids down, she can easily become dehydrated. Try giving her very small amounts of fluid (primarily breast milk or formula as well as a little water if she’s 6 months or older) frequently. Electrolyte liquids are helpful for babies 3 months or older who have been vomiting.
How do pediatrics use electrolytes?
Dosage and Directions for Use: Children 2 to 11 years old: At the first sign of diarrhea, vomiting and/0r heavy sweating, give 50–100 mL per kg (2.2 lbs) of body weight over the first 3 to 4 hours. While diarrhea, vomiting and/or heavy sweating continues, give 120 mL for every additional diarrhea or vomiting episode.
Can babies have electrolyte water with formula?
You don’t want to put your sports drink in your baby’s bottle, but there are electrolyte drinks specially designed to fit an infant’s needs. These types of electrolyte drinks are usually recommended when your infant is at risk of dehydration due to a condition such as diarrhea.
Can I mix Pedialyte with formula?
No, we do not recommend mixing Pedialyte with formula. When Pedialyte and formula are mixed together, the nutrient and mineral content of both would change, along with the osmolality. The mixture could also become clumpy and hard for your baby to drink.
Is there a baby Pedialyte?
For infants up to 10 months old, use Pedialyte® or Enfalyte®, Liquilytes® or generic electrolyte solution. For babies over 10 months of age, use: – Gatorade® or Sports drinks – Jell-O® – Popsicles® – Soup broth – Caffeine-free white soda such as Sprite®, 7Up®, or ginger ale.
