What do you need for a time attack car?

Time attack is racing against the clock and as such is considered a “speed event” not a “race event”. This means at the grassroots level the safety requirements are often as simple as long sleeve non flammable (not nylon) shirt and long trousers, covered shoes and a helmet and gloves.

Do you need a roll cage for Time Attack?

Vehicles running under the Safety Level 2 minimums must meet the requirements of Safety Level 1, plus the additions below. At a minimum, all vehicles running under Level 2 Safety must have a roll bar. The basic purpose of the roll bar is to protect the driver in case the vehicle rolls over.

How do you compete in Time Attack?

Time Attack is a type of motorsport in which the racers compete for the best lap time. Each vehicle is timed through numerous circuits of the track. The racers make a preliminary circuit, then run the timed laps, and then finish with a cool-down lap.

Why do time attack cars have big wings?

While large rear wings are used for increasing down force, rear spoilers tend to be mostly used to give the air a smooth exit from the rear of the car. This is to reduce lift and increase rear stability – without the need for a big wing (though many race cars will feature both).

At what ET Do you need a roll bar?

Roll Bars are mandatory in all cars running 11.49 or quicker, or per class requirements. Roll cages are mandatory on all vehicles at 9.99 and quicker or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.), or per class requirements.

Can you drag at 16?

As part of its wide variety of racing series, NHRA offers the Youth Racing program, in which teenagers who are 13 to 16 years old can race one another in street vehicles, be they vintage machines or models straight from the showroom floor. Prohibited vehicles include open-top SUVs or open-top SUV-type vehicles.
