What is an FEI controlled substance?

‘Controlled Medication’ are substances that are deemed by the FEI to have therapeutic value and/or be commonly used in equine medicine. Controlled Medication have the potential to affect performance and/or be a welfare risk to the horse.

Is sudocrem FEI legal?

None of the ingredients for Sudocrem are on the 2016 FEI list of banned substances, as far as I can tell.

Is red cell FEI legal?

EPO is a banned substance under the FEI’s Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations (EADCMRs).

Is Regumate FEI legal?

The use of Regumate in mares has been permitted under FEI regulations for a number of years and altrenogest is not on the Equine Prohibited Substances List. The use of Regumate in mares is, therefore, not currently prohibited.

What does Fei stand for?

To start, FEI stands for Fédération Equestre Internationale, and it is the international governing body for equestrian sports, headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Is boswellia a banned substance?

Yes, Boswellia for horses is free from banned substances (including Devil’s Claw); and is safe to use with the performance horse. Clean Sport encompasses a detailed approach to keeping sport clean from prohibited substances, and it is your responsibility as an equestrian to ensure Clean Sport is upheld.

Can you use Savlon on horses?

Do not apply wound powder or ointment just in case the wound needs stitching, unless your veterinarian is going to be delayed, when it is helpful to cover the wound with anti-bacterial ointment such as Betadine or Savlon just to keep the tissues soft and help prevent them from drying out.

Is Osphos FEI legal?

Bisphosphonates as Prohibited Substances Tildren and Osphos are listed on the Equine Prohibited Substances List as Controlled Medication since they are licensed products with performance affecting properties and their use in everyday veterinary practice is widely acknowledged.

Is Prascend USEF legal?

No, pergolide is considered a prohibited substance under FEI rules and is not permitted in competition, and no exemption or form applies.

Is Prascend a banned substance?

Prasend is on the FEI banned list and most BEF organizations have accepted it as banned (BD, BS, BE etc.) However Pony Club have not. You can still compete in Pony Club.
