The Infant Flow Driver (Electro Medical Equipment Ltd, Brighton, Sussex, UK) has recently been proposed as a new system for administering CPAP in newborn infants. CPAP is generated in the vicinity of the nasal airways by converting kinetic energy from a jet of fresh humidified gas.

What is the difference between CPAP and Sipap?

The Infant Flow® SiPAP provides noninvasive support to neonates. CPAP and Biphasic modes are provided by the Infant Flow® SiPAP. CPAP is an elevated pressure (above atmospheric) and is used to increase a premature babies functional residual capacity (FRC).

What is infant flow Sipap?

What is SIPAP? ∎ Infant flow SIPAP provides bi-level nasal. CPAP for the spontaneously breathing. neonate through the delivery of sighs above a baseline CPAP pressure. These sighs may be timed, at a rate specified by clinicians, or ‘triggered’ by patients own inspiratory efforts.

What is neonatal CPAP?

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is a means of providing respiratory support to neonates with either upper airway obstruction or respiratory failure. Respiratory failure constitutes either failure of ventilation or failure of lung function.

When do you use CPAP vs BiPAP?

The CPAP machine is usually used to treat mild to moderate sleep apnea. But depending on the severity of sleep apnea, doctors may recommend a BiPAP machine instead. Patients requiring high levels of CPAP pressure are often more comfortable using BiPAP.

What is infant flow® Sipap?

The Infant Flow® SiPAP, consisting of a Driver and Generator plus NCPAP Prongs and Masks, is a medical device intended for the provision of Bi-Level CPAP to produce a sigh. This system is for use in Hospital, Hospital Type facilities and intra- Hospital transport environments and is indicated for the treatment of Newborn and Infant patients.

Can the infant flow LP ncpap system improve patient outcomes?

When used according to your facility’s treatment protocols and with this training workbook, the Infant Flow LP nCPAP system can effectively deliver nCPAP therapy to help improve patient outcomes. Table of contents

How do you provide respiratory support to a neonatal patient?

Respiratory support Several options are available to help the clinician provide respiratory support to the neonatal patient. Historically, the initial treatment for infants with respiratory problems was mechanical ventilation via an artificial airway.
