In 2018, it was reported that an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film was in the works, but after Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed at the box office, that project was shelved. The character of Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, has an immortal grip on Star Wars fans — hence the TV series and its pivot to Disney+.
